چکیده

Background: Thalassemia is one of the most common genetic disorder hemoglobin synthesis in Jammu region. Although RBC transfusion life saving for these patients, it may be associated with some complications like alloimmunization. Thus, alloimmunization against red blood cell antigens increases need and can significantly complicate therapy. Therefore, screening unexpected antibodies should a part all pretransfusion testing, antibody identification event positive result. The aim study was to determine frequency autoimmunization alloantibodies involved. Methods:This descriptive involving total 146 thalassemic patients age range 2-32 years receiving regular transfusions, registered at SMGS bank, Jammu. Antibodies screening, identification, cross matching done on patient samples included study, during period between November 2014 October 2015.Results: At start 8 who tested 3 had more than subtype. Anti-E commonest found 4 (50%) patients. Similarly, end then revealed presence 10 Only 1 Anti E again 5 Conclusions:The identified were anti Rh system (anti-E anti-D) followed by Kell antibodies. In order reduce alloimmunization, policy performing extended phenotyping essential least antigen negative provided

Prevalence of Alloantibodies and Autoantibodies in Transfusion Dependent Thalassemia Patients

Background: The development of anti-red blood cell alloantibodies remains a major problem in transfusion of blood in thalassemia major patients. Also, Autoantibodies can result in clinical hemolysis and difficulty in cross-matching blood. We studied the frequency of red blood cell alloimmunization and autoimmunization among thalassemia patients who received regular transfusions in Ilam province...

Prevalence and specificities of red cell alloantibodies in transfusion-dependent beta thalassemia patients in Yazd

Abstract Background Multiple transfusions in thalassemia patients may lead to antibody production against blood group antigens and hemolytic transfusion reaction might occur. In this study, antibody screening test was performed by tube and gel methods to determine the prevalence and specificity of alloantibodies in thalassemia patients. Materials and Methods In this cross-sectional study, overa...
